Fare day's work: Cabbie nabs alleged perv
An alleged pervert who tried to catch a cab after pushing a 30-year-old woman to the ground in the East Village was caught instead by the cab driver, a police source said.
Luis Ponce-Garcia, 23, was arrested shortly after 5 a.m. Saturday after two alleged victims said he was the one who tried to molest them.
Police sources said Ponce-Garcia jumped into a taxi on First Ave. between 10th and 11th Sts. after knocking a woman to the ground on E. 12th St. The cabbie realized Ponce-Garcia was acting strangely, turned off the engine, jumped out of the cab and locked the alleged pervert inside, the source said. The cabbie then called police.
