NEW YORK — This year marks the 100th anniversary of New York City's metered taxicabs. Some taxi facts:

_ New York has 13,087 yellow medallion taxicabs. That doesn't include limousine and car services.

_ Some 241 million passengers took taxis in New York City in 2005.

_ On average, there were 470,000 separate taxi trips in the city every day in 2005.

_ An average adult who lives in Manhattan hails a cab 100 times a year.
