Grieving husband and father facing immigration woes
A man who lost his family in last week's tragic building fire in New York City has run into immigration problems.
Mamadou Soumare (MAH'-muh-doo SAH'-muh-ray) wants to bury his wife and four children in his native Mali, in west Africa. But if he leaves the U-S, he might have trouble getting back in.
A spokeswoman for Senator Charles Schumer of New York says Soumare's documentation "remains uncertain." She says they're working to find a solution.
The offices of Senator Hillary Clinton and Congressman Jose Serrano are also looking into the problem.
Soumare came to America in the 1990s, and was working as a cab driver. Last week's fire in the Bronx killed his family plus five other children.
