Cab driver hurt in Expressway crash
The crash of a livery cab last night left the driver injured and slowed traffic on the Staten Island Expressway. Wtinesses said the eastbound black Lincoln Town Car T-boned the Expressway median beneath the Hylan Boulevard overpass at about 10:50 p.m. The front of the car was pancaked. The unidentified driver for Speed Car Service in Great Kills was pulled from the wreck by police and firefighters. He was placed on a stretcher and removed to the hospital in a North Shore Rescue Squad ambulance.It was unclear whether the driver had a passenger or passengers. Police vehicles, fire trucks and EMS were all on the scene and traffic backed up on the Expressway for at least a mile.By 11:15 p.m., traffic began to flow again.
