NORTH BRUNSWICK: Cab driver shot in neck; two arrested
Olowe Johnson, the 35-year-old taxi driver, was taken to Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick, and spent the night there for treatment. He was due to be released this afternoon, according to the owner of the cab company.
Johnson called police at 10:08 p.m., describing the shooting at Oak Tree Drive. When police arrived he gave them a description of the suspects.
He told police he picked up four persons in New Brunswick on Remsen Avenue. After the suspects shot him and took his wallet they fled on Marigold Street toward How Lane.
Police officers gave Johnson first-aid treatment, and set up a perimeter around the area. The suspects were apprehended the Middlesex County Social Services Building on How Lane.
Four people were apprehended by police, but only two were identified by the driver and placed under arrest, including the 17-year-old and a 14-year-old.
The two were charged with robbery, attempted murder and gun possession and taken to the Middlesex County Youth Detention Center.
