The classic Ford Crown Victoria's days are numbered, so New York is on the lookout for a new taxi. A design competition will be launched at next month's New York Motor Show, where inspirational exhibits on the Taxi '07 stand will include a London black cab, an electric battery-powered zero-emissions taxi and a 200mph Crown Vic equipped with a 1,000bhp hydrogen-powered engine.

There will also be a pimptastic high-riding Crown Vic created by Rides magazine, a version of Kia's new Rondo MPV, and concepts from art and design students.
